Well, let's just say today has been an absolute disaster of a day! I shall try to chronologically work through my day. Grab a cub of joe and a snack - it's a whopper of a tale.....
My flight was scheduled to depart from the Massena Airport at 5:15 am. Needless to say I was running a few minutes behind trying to cram lots of stuff into my bag. (Just a side note - My flight flew from Boston to Cincinnati to Columbus. My plan was to just have a carry on because I packed light intentionally and get off in Cincinnati.) So, I arrive at the Massena airport around 4:40 am. I am walking toward the airport when this man asks if I am flying out. "Why Yes" - I reply, bright and cheery, ready to be headed back to Cincinnati. He informs me that everyone is being shuttled to Ogdensburg (30 min away) because the plane couldn't fly in due to fog last night. (This is where my nightmare of a day begins.) I ask about checking in or security etc - oh they'll do all that in Ogdensburg. So, I obey the man and climb aboard. Though a few random thoughts fly through my head- why does this van say towing on the side?? I could be anyone - how do they know I am on this flight? This man could be anyone? Thankfully - once inside I realize that I fill the van up (6 of us) and other people are talking about their flights. This was slightly reassuring. So, we drive 15 minutes back in the direction that I just came from practically right past mom's house. The best part is that we are halfway there when the driver gets a cell phone call that someone else is back in Massena for this flight. Now, when he drops us off and he is headed back - they will ship him out on another vehicle. But, they can't have both taxis/shuttles out at the same time???. So, I was thinking great... we will have to wait for this person but as you will see it didn't matter anyway. We arrive in Ogdensburg and are all ready to check in. We find out that the desk boy has gone to pick up the crew from the hotel. Meanwhile back at the ranch, somehow the crew arrive without the desk boy. The desk boy then has to be notified to come back because the crew is already there. It turns out that the desk boy is not the "real" desk person - that individual had called in sick. So, this guy takes a good 30-45 minutes trying to get our tickets and print them off. Finally tickets in hand and through security - we board the little puddle-jumper of a plane. We touch down in Watertown and find out there is bad weather in Boston. We exit the plane because the flight from Watertown to Boston is delayed. Waiting. Waiting. People getting anxious because they are going to miss their connecting flight out of Boston. Finally we hear that our flight to Boston is canceled. Okay , so now what do I do? Mostly everything tomorrow is booked up because of flights being canceled and rescheduled. Everyone is rescheduling. So, I cannot leave until Thursday now. This is frustrating. So, I start making my million phone calls to adjust my schedule for the next two day. There are probably 30 people in the Watertown waiting on flights etc. To conclude this story all 6 of us that started out the morning together - were happily reunited and put in a nasty van with no air conditioning and shuttled back to Massena since our flights were not departing until Wed or Thurs. I was exhausted and not exactly sure what to think of this mess of a day. It's like a nightmare..... or an insane comedy...... I don't know whether to laugh, cry, scream, or pound on something. Grrr..... If I have trouble with my flight on Thursday......... I may need some medication.... paxil, valium, zoloft...I'll take anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
