shopping... and other boring tidbits

Hey everyone. So, I have kind of lost my umph for blogging. But, here I am. :-)

So, here is my question for everyone. (My two or three readers that are still out there.) I have been establishing in my mind and on paper - what price I will pay for food items. I am not a "grocery game" person - I don't have the time. And to be totally honest - coupons are usually for brand name products - and I don't typically buy brand names. I know some of you are just horrified at the thought but my time & sanity is worth more than being coupon obsessed. No offense to those of you who love coupon cutting, etc. I am amazed at your "deals."

So, I tend to shop the sales. My question is do you have a max price you will pay for food? Here are a few of mine... I don't have my list near me - but here are few off the top of my head.... I won't buy unless it is this price.

Grapes - .99 /lb.
Strawberries - .99 / container (1.29 was pushing it this summer)
Plum/Nect/Apr - .99/ lb

So, list your prices below. I am still establishing my prices. This will help me. :-) Especially fruit and meat - those tend to be the biggest sales.

Thanks for your help!!

Well, I guess you could guess my prices for food items. I agree with you though that there has to be a limit as to what you want to pay. I also agree about the coupons, bless those that feel like doing all the clippin and running from store to store to get the bargains. I like to just get my groceries in a grocery store and not a super walmart. I detest those stores. Anyway, Hannaford has a much better variety for anything and sometimes at a lower price than walmart. (I am one of your faithful readers, I refuse to do facebook.)

Here are two of my price limits:

Cereal: $2.00/box
Boneless pork loin: $1.69/lb.

And I'm with you on the grapes and plums!

Yes, I used to use coupons with sales and still do occassionally, but I find that I love bargains so much that I buy stuff just because I have a coupon that's gonna expire even if I don't need the item right now or probably for a long time in the future!

It's hard to say on prices, because they are so different in different areas, but I shop mostly at ALDI, get the few items I can't get there at other stores, and then hit meat sales. I don't pay over $1.99 for any meat and I never buy bone-in or with skin and very rarely pork! :-)

Wow that was a long post! . . .
